The sides were evenly matched in a tense game where scores were level on numerous occasions. A Charlie Tobin goal in the 23rd minute of the second half tilted the contest in Newport’s favour and they ran out winners on a 1-17 to 0-14 scoreline. - Duck Race Winners & Awards Night
Huge thank you to all who supported our annual Duck Race, Friday evening last. It was a fantastic evening.
The winners were:
- 1st prize: Ronan Keane, Annaholty.
- 2nd prize: Liz Farren, Kilcommon.
- 3rd prize: Sarah de Korte, Newport.
Thanks to Paddysnaps Photo’s for capturing all the fun. After our Duck Race we had our Annual Awards evening at Newport Community Centre for our players U5 to U11. We were delighted this year to welcome All Ireland Hurling Star, Jake Morris, to present our wonderful young players with their awards. The excitement in the hall was electric and the very large attendance proved that Newport GAA has a very bright future. Well done to all the players, mentors, parents and all who organised the evening and to Jake Morris for coming and for his great words of encouragement to our young players. Thanks to Paddysnaps for the wonderful photos which captured the evening and to Newport Community Centre for the facilities.
